Counter Cult:Fermented Skin Care

CCFSC: independent fermentation research

The research behind this has run for years across human immunology, the skin and gut microbiome, and traditional fermentation and food preservation, driven by a personal question that started with childhood eczema and never really let go.

The clearest answer came from an ordinary backyard crabapple tree. Tasting the small red apples turned up something oddly specific: the same tartness and astringency as a facial cleanser from years earlier, long before that connection meant anything.

That match became a formula: fermented golden beet, ginger, and crab apple, worked into oils and beeswax by hand. It worked well from the start and kept improving through a couple of years of refinement, and it held up intact after a move to Copenhagen. It isn't a cosmeceutical or a pharmaceutical: a naturally fermented skin cream, simple enough to make in a kitchen, complex enough that it'll eventually be worth standardizing properly in a lab.
