Vector Logo Concept & Beehive Design
Project Details
After extensive research into the natural history of the honey bee I decided that I would design a beehive based on historical and current models that would allow the beekeeper to occasionally harvest honey while maintaining the health of the honey been colony.
Once finished I decided to create a brand and logo for a hypothetical company that would build, educate, train, and sell products to veteran and novice beekeepers.
The logo is based off of a photograph of Paul Revere’s lantern that was carried during the famous ride of Paul Revere to warn the Americans that the British were coming. The concept was to relate the brand to that sense of organized rebellion.
The final design of the hive could not be legally implemented in most United States jurisdictions because current policy is based on commercial extraction and pollination instead of overall colony health. This sense of rebellion inspired the use of the lantern.
